MANO's 2nd Annual Joint Conference will be held June 14, 2013.
The
Mediation Association of Northeast Ohio
is a non-profit organization dedicated to furthering mediation as a profession
and a practice. We provide professional development for mediators, serve as a
public resource about mediation, and promote the use of mediation in disputes.
MANO
had its beginnings in 1991 with a small group of mediators meeting informally in
living rooms and coffee houses on a monthly basis for the purpose of exchanging
information, challenging one another with questions about their practice, and
providing networking and support for one another.
Since that time, the group has evolved into a more structured, active
group of professionals from a variety of backgrounds including, among others,
law, mental health, conflict management, and organizational development.
The work of the Organization is coordinated by an Executive
Board, four standing committees
(Professional Education, Public Outreach, Membership, and Annual Meeting), and
the efforts of many committed members
who share an interest in promoting the use and practice of mediation in the
northeast Ohio region. Our
general meetings (open to members and
non-members alike) are held during the first week of the odd-numbered months at
a variety of locations. (Please see
our Upcoming MANO Events tab for information on topics, times and locations.)
Meetings generally begin at 6:30 p.m. with a half-hour of networking
followed at 7:00 p.m. by announcements and a speaker presenting on a topic of
professional interest. An annual meeting
is held in April of each year. This
meeting is comprised of a more extensive educational component together with a
business meeting including the announcement of newly elected officers. In
addition to its bi-monthly meetings, MANO is also involved with a number of
other projects and activities including: --Sponsoring
training in mediation related topics; --Case
discussion groups in which participants can share professional tips and
practice concerns; --A
speaker's bureau in which MANO
members provide presentations for organizations tailored to the need of the
specific group; --Participation
in statewide dialogues on
mediation-related issues. |
